A predator rod with reserves of power for casting huge flies and playing trophy fish
With the ever-increasing popularity of predator fishing in the UK and targeting trophy species overseas, Snowbee have developed this 9ft #9 model to handle the huge flies often required.
Despite its heavier weight, the rod handles beautifully every cast and will achieve fantastic distances with all fly sizes when matched with the correct line. Using predominantly 40 ton carbon fibre with a small amount of 36 ton, Snowbee have achieved the precise, crisp, middle-to-tip action required from the tri-modulus construction, through careful manipulation of the resin formulation and carbon fibre scrim. The blank has a steeper taper and thicker wall profile than typical reservoir rods to handle the larger, powerful fish likely to be encountered too.
The blanks are left ‘un-ground’ with a natural finish, leaving the original matt lay-up of the double helical hoop pattern intact, adding strength to the blank, making it far more durable, whilst still providing the desired enhanced performance. To keep weight to a minimum, Snowbee have used lightweight machined aluminium reel seats, with carbon fibre inserts and a silver anodised finish. Unlike the rest of the range, this rod has been given a substantial rubber-cork fighting butt by popular request.
