Snowbee XS Fly Lines

All Snowbee fly lines are designed in the UK and are recognised by top professionals everywhere, as truly world-class and arguably the best British Fly lines ever made. The Snowbee success story in the development of high quality fly lines continues unabated. Ask a large majority of UK anglers, which lines they use and chances are they’re already using a Snowbee. By using a computer controlled production system we are able to incorporate minute changes to fly line profiles to meet the very precise demands of today’s modern fly fishers. Add to this the unique Snowbee ‘high performance’ and exclusive coating process and you have a fly line with the slickest finish, lowest-friction & lowest memory characteristics you’ll find anywhere!

Buzzer

In 2007 we only introduced one new Fly line, the “Buzzer”, but what a huge success it turned out to be. This line combined all the casting and presentation benefits of the traditional Snowbee XS floating line with the added benefit & sensitivity of the short intermediate sinking tip. Together we produced a great casting line, which when fished with nymphs or buzzers from bank or boat, had the habit of producing more fish than the traditional floating line. For casting & performance once again Snowbee lines came to the fore with reviews last year too, achieving Best in Test in no less than three of the four major reviews in 2007. These included Trout Fisherman for the Slow Intermediate, Trout & Salmon with the Scandinavian Spey & Total Flyfisher Choice, in their annual floating line review with the popular Blue & Ivory.

Specialist Snowbee XS Fly Lines

WFBT - XS Buzzer Line (Olive Tip/Ivory)
Our new ‘Buzzer’ line was developed especially for optimum performance when fishing the ubiquitous and hugely rewarding style of buzzer whether from the bank or boat. This fly line has the same profile as the ever popular XS Floating Ivory, but the last 3-4ft of the front taper section is coloured a neutral shade of olive where it has been purposely designed to sink slowly and improve successful ‘hook ups’ and ‘feel’, when straight line nymphing and buzzer fishing, resulting in countless extra fish.

WFST - XS Intermediate Sink Tip Fly Line
A sink tip line which exhibits the same superb casting performance as our floating lines, without the hinging and ‘casting kick’ usually associated with sink tips. The 13ft intermediate density sink tip will ‘hang’ sub-surface, giving straight line contact with the fly, to avoid missed takes. Precise depth control is achieved, through speed of retrieve make this line ideal for the serious Grayling, Brown and Sea-Trout angler.

WFND - XS Neutral Density Fly Line
The same profile as the Snowbee XS floating line, but in a natural, non spooking, mustard colour. Perhaps as yet, the most under used and underrated line in the entire Snowbee range. The super slow, uniform sink rate, is designed to ‘hang’ just sub surface, where some would say is the very best place to be. Too many lines sink quickly below those invisible subsurface cruisers, often just out of sight, and of course those easily spooked Sea-Trout on the rivers too.

WFI - XS Clear Intermediate Fly Line
The combination of outstanding Snowbee XS performance, with virtual invisibility, makes this versatile line deadly for all sub-surface fishing, whether Buzzer, Nymph, Sea-Trout or Saltwater. Minimal stretch for ultimate feel, this is a stealth fishing line every angler should have on one of their spare spools.

New XS-Plus ‘Countdown’ Fly Lines

The running line has also been extended by 20 feet over a normal Snowbee XS to allow for the extra casting distances achievable. With the line having no memory issues, ones time on the bank or boat is more productively spent fishing and you don’t have to start your retrieve on the backing.

WFCD2 – XS-Plus Countdown 2
Two coloured in natural olive greens to avoid spooking fish but still visible to see the depth of retrieve. At 2 inches per second sink rate, this represents the slowest in the XS-Plus Countdown series it is perfect for fishing nymphs or lures beneath the surface on river or Stillwater and will account for many bonus fish ‘on the drop’ as the flies sink slowly, whilst counting down to the desired fishing depth.

WFCD3 – XS-Plus Countdown 3
With a sink rate of 3 ins/sec this has been designed for fishing nymphs in moderate depths, especially when the wind is up a little or with a booby on the point to provide a washing line style of fishing. When the fish are feeding or holding 3-5ft below the surface, Countdown 3 can be ideal for reaching that popular target depth within about 15 secs and then a continuous moderate retrieve will help maintain the flies at the desired fishing depth for much of the way back.

WFCD5 – XS-Plus Countdown 5
Countdown 5 averages a sink rate of 5 inches per second, which is perfect for fishing a team of sunk lures at moderate depth on a rough day, with a good degree of control. Traditional lures and boobies can be combined with mixed leader lengths to provide the ultimate presentation at whatever depth required. Countdown 5 will quickly deliver ones flies to required depth, from a boat for example, without losing valuable time and distance, as the boat continues to drift quickly forward.

XSPCD7 – XS-Plus Countdown 7
The fastest sinking Snowbee line ever, at a density achieving an average sink rate of 7 inches per second, this line will provide optimum distance and depth in the roughest of weather conditions. Capable of reaching the bottom in nearly 20 feet of water in around 30 seconds and with a low stretch core for maximum sensitivity, this line is ideal for lures or boobies in all weathers or simply fishing ones flies hard on the bottom in no time at all.

Predator and Saltwater Fly Lines

Spectre’ Pike & Tarpon Fly Lines

The innovative process for the ‘Spectre’ series of fly lines incorporates our technically advanced clear intermediate coating over a ‘Camo-coloured’ core. By combining a reduced visibility, with a highly developed ‘stepped Front Taper’ profile, both lines in the series offer the ‘Predator’ fly fisher a real opportunity to deliver & turn over large flies quickly and with the minimum of effort.

BFF - XS Bonefish Fly Lines
Designed specifically for Bone fishing in Sub-Tropical conditions, a profile similar to the standard floating line, offers spook-free presentation, coupled with the legendary Snowbee performance.

SWF - XS Saltwater Fly Lines
A general-purpose saltwater line suitable for anything from UK species to Tarpon where the temperatures are not the most fierce as can be found in parts of the tropics. The longer belly, gives the line more ‘weight’, for quick loading, while the shorter, steeper tapers will turn over the largest of flies at any distance.

XS Tropics Saltwater Fly Lines

XS Tropics Saltwater Fly Lines
Anyone who has fished in the searing heat of the Tropics knows of the havoc these temperatures can play with a fly line. Your prized line, which performs faultlessly on the local reservoir, suddenly turns into a string of limp liquorice, which sticks to everything! If you are going all that way and spending all that money…go prepared. That’s where the New Snowbee XS Tropics Saltwater lines come in. Using totally new technology, these lines are designed to retain their performance in extremes of temperature & humidity. When that monster Tarpon “tails” at extreme casting distance, you can cast instinctively, confident the line will perform. The shorter, steeper tapers ensure your heavy fly kicks over, even at maximum casting range.

SWTS XS Tropics Saltwater Surf Line
Although designed for Tropical surfcasting, this line performs equally well in temperate conditions. Ideal for use where the predators are holding just behind the second or third wave break, picking up baitfish or shrimp, caught in the undertow. The short, shooting head profile, fast-sink head, gets you down quickly to the bite zone, whilst the high buoyancy, floating running line, prevents getting sucked down by the under-tow.

'Scandinavian' Spey Lines

‘Scandinavian-Spey’ Fly Lines,
with Continuous Running Line and Backing
The Scandinavian Spey line profiles meet the demands of those salmon & sea-trout anglers, fishing with double handed rods in highly restricted areas, where the creation of a large ‘D’ loop is near impossible. By combining the best of the ‘Scandinavian underhand’ style of casting and ‘shooting head’ line technology, with our own UK style of ‘Spey Casting’ and delicate front taper design, we’ve created the ultimate fly line for tackling great places with tight spaces. The Scandinavian-Spey loads the rod quickly at short range, shoots like a dream and has the turnover of a traditional Spey line. The slickest delivery of flies, with no backing knots into the bargain.

Our ‘Scandinavian-Spey’ fly lines come in a choice of Floating, Intermediate and Ultra-fast sinking densities, with a colour coded core that also forms the first 50yds of your backing.

Scandinavian-Shooting Heads
The traditional Scandinavian method of using ‘trim to fit’ Shooting Heads for Salmon & Sea-Trout fly fishing, is as popular today as it’s ever been, allowing the angler to ‘modify’ the weighted section of the head to suit his own, very specific requirements. Snowbee Scandinavian Shooting Heads have the same front profile & head weights as the ‘Scandinavian Spey’ lines, for effective rod loading at short range and incredibly smooth turn-over. Available in a choice of densities and head weights, to suit both single and double handed casting situations.

Snowbee – Hi -Visibility Running Lines
Snowbee – Floating, High-Visibility, Running Lines feature a low mass, low diameter material composition and provide the ideal medium for Shooting Head construction and line shoot-ability. Available in two sizes Trout (0.8mm diam) and Salmon/Saltwater (1.0mm diam).

3 Dimensional Spey Casting

For a few years now, Snowbee have led the way in Spey fly lines and the revolutionary 3D balanced system helped pioneer the way forward. With this enormous success and growing reputation, we continue to listen and respond to customer requests and we have introduced further advances to help the double handed Spey Angler through 2008 and beyond.

New improved 2D Spey lines.
The ever-popular 2D Line has been further enhanced and now has an extended running line for 2008. Casting has now been made so easy with technology, that the conventional length of running line is no longer enough to accommodate the ability of most of today’s anglers, with a 2D line in their hands. Spey casting, distance presentation can now be fulfilled in 21st century style and this most popular and now enhanced 2D line, will accommodate new levels of performance in Spey casting.

New 'Intermediate' Sinking 3D line.

We have developed a brand new sinking Spey line in all three 3D formats, an Intermediate sinking fly line, which has sink rate of 2-2.5ips to help with those situations when a floating or sink tip fly line are just not enough. In all three head lengths 1D(51ft), 2D(62ft) and 3D(73ft) this line is designed to help produce more fish on those difficult days wherever one may be.

3D fly lines

The3-D principle is pretty straight forward, and is designed to reward the angler with optimum performance when the full head is extended. All three dimensions 1D, 2D and 3D can all be interchanged to suit the venue or conditions, without changing ones rod and still achieve the optimum casting performance, the only difference being the head length.  The 2D is the great all rounder, the 1D is best for smaller tight locations and particularly windy conditions and the 3D, with its 73ft head, is ideal for the big open river.

1D Spey Lines (51 ft Head)

Suitable for Spey casting in small rivers where bank side vegetation and /or steep sided river banks severely limit the back cast area
