River Yealm Fishery
Quality Fishing for Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon.
The Upper River Yealm Fishery lies in a picturesque landscape in the shadow of nearby Dartmoor, approximately 8 miles from Plymouth. The Fishery consists of nearly a mile of fishing on both banks of the river. The fishery is divided into two beats; upper & lower. The upper beat is a wooded stretch of the river and consists of a number of pools, runs and rocky features, ideal lying points for cautious, wild fish. The lower beat has a Parkland setting with a 19th century Victorian Weir cascading its white water into a large pool below.
Whether you are local to the area, just visiting or on holiday, the fishing for wild Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon in such a beautiful setting could n't be more rewarding!
Typically, the River Yealm has a good run of Sea Trout from May through September and a run of Salmon from October to December. Native Brown Trout are also present in adequate numbers in the waters of the fishery and range in size up to approximately 1.5lbs providing the skilled fly fisher with a worthy challenge. The Upper Yealm Fishery enables an angler to enjoy a peaceful day in an area of outstanding natural beauty with occasional glimpses of Otters and Kingfishers. Anglers are asked to show due consideration to others who use the fishery and farmland and must be in posession of the relevant Environment Agency license.
