Speed Jigging is without a doubt, the biggest & most exciting development in boat fishing in the last 10 years.
Those of us old enough to have fished in the 70’s will remember the old Norwegian ‘Pirking’ techniques, which involved chucking upwards of a pound of chromed lead as far down-tide as you could manage & then jigging it close to the bottom, before having to winch it all the way to the surface ready for the next drift! By the end of the day, if you made it that far, backs were aching & muscles screaming.
The modern Japanese Style Speed Jigging is far removed from that. Modern jigs feature an asymmetric design with subtle facets and opposing surface finishes, to generate the action through the water.
Our new Stinger Jigs are no exception. Designed with one surface smooth gloss finished and the other in a matt finish, with small gill flaps and other surface irregularities; just enough to cause disturbance to the laminar water flow, which causes the jig to mimic the erratic movements of an escaping injured bait fish, so tempting to any predatory fish.
Developed by the Snowbee product development team over a period of 18 months and exhaustively tested “in anger”, not only do these jigs out-fish eels & shads every time, but we have also put them up against just about every other brand of jigs, including the market leaders & they have out-fished all of them on the day.
Available in a range of designs and weights, all models come in a choice of the 4 most popular colours – Blue Mackerel, Green Mackerel, Pink/Blue & Orange/Gold. These have proved to be the most effective colours in all fishing situations. Other colours offered by competitors are to catch anglers, not fish!
The other thing that sets modern Jigs apart from their predecessors, is the use of Assist hooks. The original Pirks usually had a size 10/0 treble at the bottom, so it was only a matter of time before this caught in the wreck, resulting in costly losses.
Modern Jigs use Assist hooks rigged to the top eye of the jig. Not only does this keep them clear of the wreck, when the jig hits bottom, but as the jig drops, the hooks stream upwards giving the angler more time to ‘lift off’, before the hooks can snag.
