This may be a very bold statement, yet it comes from understanding the realm of possibilities these great fly rods nurture! The lighter #5 and #6 wt rods can be cast with either single or two hands very easily, whilst the #7 and #8 will involve less single-handed and more two-handed use. Spey casting especially, is easily and effectively achieved with all sizes.
Modern switch rods were first introduced in the Pacific North West of North America back in 2004, driven by the need to fish both remote small rivers and nearby coastal fisheries for Wild Steelhead and Salmon, where a solution was required to out-cast single handed rods with simplicity and ease.
The one major hurdle that desperately needed redesigning and understanding fully, was that these new rod innovations needed special fly line designs to provide the optimum performance and make them as versatile and effective as they are. The new Snowbee ‘Switch Rod’ fly lines are specifically designed to be coupled with these rods and fished with a Snowbee Poly-Coated Leader, allow you to fish a variety of waters and at levels with much fun and ease.
Almost every fly fishing arena, destination and discipline, could utilise the modern day Switch Rod and because Switch Lines require large capacity, the smallest reel size we would recommend is the Snowbee Geo 790 and for the larger sizes the Geo 910.
Prestige Switch Rods come complete with a heavy duty, Cotton Drill Rod Bag and a tough, 6cm square Cordura covered Rod Tube, with carry handle with adjustable, removable shoulder strap.

This is a slightly faster and more ‘energetic’ fly rod able to cross over to larger Sea Trout, Grilse and massive Reservoir Trout. These rods also deliver heavier flies and Poly Leaders without twitching and still ‘one-hand’ friendly, without unnecessary fatigue after a full days’ fishing.

This rod will be the master for the fly fisher seeking that bright Silver Spring Salmon or giant Sea Trout that may require some ‘bush whacking’, deep water wading. This rod takes hard work in its stride, yet still feels just like a trout rod, even after a days’ fishing.

Modern day Switch lines are a little like a ‘compressed’ Spey line, with a short, heavy head similar to a shooting head profile, but in the popular ‘Skagit’ style. The difference however, is that the bulk of the weight is at the back of the head, to provide the power to create tight D-loops and effortless distance. A long shallow front taper provides a smooth energy transfer for controlled and accurate presentation. To enhance this, Switch lines are ideally fished with a Snowbee Poly-Coated Leader, allowing different fishing depths, depending on the density used.
A short, steep rear taper compresses the weight into the head, where it’s needed and connects smoothly to a fine diameter, continuous running line for minimum friction and maximum shootability.

Prestige 4-pce Travel Fly Rod
The lightweight aluminium reel fittings have a hard anodised silver/gold finish and feature a stunning maple burl wood insert. This beautiful wood displays a range of colours and grain patterns, making each rod uniquely beautiful and distinctly individual. Prestige 6-pce Salmon Rod

Diamond Fly Rods
This is where it all started, back in 1994! The very first Snowbee Fly Rods, all those years ago, were the ‘Diamond Fly’, which had a loyal following amongst fly fishers. The new Diamond range, launched in 2008, brought back everything that was good about those early rods in terms of quality and reliability, but incorporated the latest thinking in fly rod design and material technology. They soon became our biggest and fastest selling range of fly rods ever, as discerning customers came to appreciate the performance and value so we upgraded the entire range to the latest 4pce construction only and have added a few new rods to extend this popular range still further.
For 2012 we are continuing unchanged across the Diamond renge. After the introduction of the completely upgraded 4 pce models, there has been nothing we could do to improve these rods without significantly increasing their price. As they are, they represent extremely good value and can match the performance many rods carrying far more expensive labels. Retaining the same crisp, middle to tip action of their predecessors, the modern Diamond Series is exceptionally good value and starting now at just over £100, they compete on performance with many of the best rods on the market today. Every rod in the range has been designed with a particular fishing application in mind and the longer, lower line weight models, will appeal particularly to river fishers in central and eastern Europe, the home of Czech nymphing techniques.
