Geo 'Nano' Technolgy Fly Rods
The new Geo Fly rods from Snowbee represent a giant leap forward for the brand, in terms of technological advancement.
For the past two years, the big news in fly rod development has been the introduction of genuine ‘Nano’ technology. A number of brands have ‘jumped on the bandwagon’, offering what is purported to be ‘nano technology’, at very low prices. Beware however as true Nano Resin Technology does not come cheap and for 18 months, our design and manufacturing teams have been searching to source the most advanced nano technology, but at the right price… and now we have it!
Our new carbon fibre ‘pre-preg’ materials utilises the very latest Japanese 'Nano' resin technology, using a unique SiC Reinforced Resin System. Lab tests prove that the flexural strength and modulus of our new SiC reinforced resin system is around 11% stronger than those of typical, standard resin systems. We have all heard of SiC used for lining stripper rings, but this innovative use of Silicon Carbide to reinforce resin, results in fly rod blanks which are lighter, crisper and a faster action than previously achievable, with a blank that is as close to ‘unbreakable’ in normal use, as it is possible to achieve.
Built to our exacting standards and incorporating our time-proven ‘Tri-Modulus technology’, (where various modulus carbon fibres are used throughout the length of the blank), to achieve the exact action required. Geo Nano 9ft #8 & 9ft #9 4-pce
Aimed squarely at the saltwater or predator fly fisher, these two models feature our double stripper rings, first introduced on the Deep Blue Saltwater fly rods. This provides better line control and ‘tames’ the coils in fly lines faster, reducing line slap abd inevitable drag when shooting, for effortless increased distance. Powerful blanks that will find favour with both saltwater or any Pike and predator anglers.
Snowbee Prestige Switch Rods
The light weight and effortless power of these new rods will be particularly appreciated by both salmon and sea-trout fishermen, fishing from either bank or boat. The ease of casting will also find favour amongst stillwater trout and lady salmon fishers, where distance and accuracy can be achieved effortlessly, all day long.
This is a very bold statement, yet it comes from understanding the realm of possibilities these great fly rods nurture! The lighter #5 and #6 wt rods can be cast either single or double-handed very easily, whilst the #7 and #8 will involve less single-handed and more two-handed use. Spey casting especially, is easily and effectively achieved with all sizes.
Modern switch rods were first introduced in the Pacific North West of North America back in 2004, driven by the need to fish both remote small rivers and nearby coastal fisheries for Wild Steelhead and Salmon, where a solution was required to out-cast single handed rods with simplicity and ease.
The one major hurdle that desperately needed redesigning and understanding fully was that these new rod innovations needed special fly line designs to provide the optimum performance and make them
so versatile and effective. The new Snowbee ‘Switch Rod’ fly lines are specifically designed to be coupled with these rods and fished with a Snowbee Poly-Coated Leader, allowing you to fish all the various water

Profiles to perfectly match and complement our Prestige Switch rods. Modern day Switch lines are a little like a ‘compressed’ Spey line, with a short, heavy head similar to a shooting head profile, but in the popular ‘Skagit’ style. The difference however, is that the bulk of the weight is at the back of the head, to provide the power to create tight D-loops and effortless distance. A long shallow front taper provides a smooth energy transfer for controlled and accurate presentation. To enhance this, Switch lines are ideally fished with a Snowbee Poly-Coated Leader, allowing different fishing depths, depending on the
density used. A short, steep rear taper compresses the weight into the head, where it’s needed and connects smoothly to a fine diameter, continuous running line for minimum friction and maximum shootability.
Snowbee Switch Intermediate Fly Line
By popular request we have now launched a new Intermediate Switch line with a sinking density of approximately 1.5ips. Constructed with the same profile as the popular floating line, and pre-looped at both ends, this line has a slow sinking Olive coloured head and a floating Fluorescent Orange running line. Similar to the floating line, this is best fished with a short poly leader of similar density or faster, to achieve the ultimate in performance and presentation and ideal for fishing from the bank or wading.

Since 1994, the name ‘Diamond Fly’, has been synonymous with Snowbee and has built a loyal following amongst fly fishers. Since then, the Diamond range has steadily evolved and our new 2013 Diamond² range incorporates the very latest thinking in fly rod design and material technology.
For 2013 the top-selling Diamond range has been completely upgraded. They retain the same crisp, middle to tip action of their predecessors and still represent exceptional value for money, for a rod of this quality. Using a new blank design & the latest high-modulus carbon fibre materials however, has produced a blank that is faster, crisper and lighter than its predecessor.
